Zechariah reveals that when God’s people turn to idols and reject the loving leadership of the Good Shephard, they inveitably fall under the influence of destructive and self-serving shephards. In Zechariah 10-11, the Lord comes to “vist His flock” to restore strengthen, and gather His people - but He is tragically rejected and vauled only at the price of a wounded slave. This rejection leads to the rise of a “worthless shepherd,” symbolizing the antichrist spirit of deception and self-rule. The message is clear: we cannot experince life with God unless we are willingto be by Him. At the Altar of Rescue, we return in repentance and reverance, laying down our idols and reclaiming the leadership of Jesus - teh Cornerstone who reorients us, the Tent Peg who secures us, and the Shephard King who alone can save, restore, and strengthen our lives.
